With John Langton on guitar and vocals, Jeff Posner on drums, and Mark Adamoyurka on bass, Porcelain takes a hard, driving, modern rock rhythm and marries it to thought-provoking, melodic vocals. Porcelain blends raw sincerity with harmonic sensibility and multimedia. Their live show is not to be missed. Check the gig listings at www.porcelainrocks.com.

"...Porcelain have range and a great ear for catchy hooks. Not too heavy, not too light. If commercial radio were playing stuff like this, I'd listen to it..." - Joe Hacking, The Noise: Rock Around Boston

Make sure you give a listen to my personal favorite:
Fallen

Have fun!

Jack Lavoie's songs tell tales, share secrets, and spread the message of hope and compassion in a world where, as he says with a smile and a wink:

... life is tough, life is beautiful, life is love...

Jack's voice is sometimes compared to Mick Jagger's or The New Radical's Greg Alexander, his musical mood as a cross between Lou Reed and Sheryl Crow (yes, we know... it's hard to imagine), and his charismatic stage presence to that of much more experienced artists. But as Jack puts it:

I love listening to all kinds of music and seeing all kinds of performers for all kinds of reasons, inspiration, motivation, relaxation, energizing. So my circle of influence is pretty wide, but as for comparisons, what can I say except, thanks, I welcome the kind words, and I channel it all into becoming the best I can at what I do.

Make sure you give a listen to Jack's featured songs:
be your guide
reason

Enjoy!

The previously introduced websites of the Stone Tiger Entertainment Group, Alan Horvath, and Short Buss Records have been added to weed sharing. Newcomer Weed Country has also joined the webring of Weed download sites.

Singer/songwriter Elisa Peimer has joined the ranks of artists offering Weed files on their sites.

Also new to the community is Music Weed.com.

New feature

An interview with artist Richard Dunlap, the first in a weekly series of "Weed Artist Spotlight" featuring Weed artists and ICPs, is now available on pianist/composer Loren DiGiorgi's revamped site.

New music

The WeedStash has the music of Finespun, a mix of indie rock and alternative that puts them somewhere near the territory of superstardom of acts like Pearl Jam and Creed, and Koan, an independent Canadian Band based out of the city of Edmonton.

8 new songs are up at ChristianWeed.com from Dave Byers's album, "Closer To Home".

Now available at the Weed File Garden, flutist Dr. David Klee's album "River of Emotions", Analog Dreamer's album "Allure Fiction", and Kory Livingstone's fairy tale "The Billy Goats Gruff", a children's story of over 18 minutes in length. Also, by popular demand, The Fading Collection tracks have been upgraded from 128k to 192k.

DownloadWeed.com presents tunes from Big Tube Squeezer, and tracks from The Scholars, both bands showcasing the many talents of Whiting Tennis.

You will find new music from Alkai Diggins, Superlush, and Utterance at www.weedsharemusic.com.

Jack's Weed Café announces Weed selections from Small Stone Records's artists 36D, Dixie Witch, Fireball Ministry, Five Horse Johnson, The Glasspack, Greenleaf, Halfway To Gone, Los Natas, Men Of Porn, Novadriver, Puny Human, Throttlerod, and Tummler. Also featured are 12 tracks representing the best of Swedish heavy rock band Dozer's last 3 records.

This must have been a very exciting week for Joe and Jonathan at weedtunes.com. They had the distinction of producing Weed's first but certainly not last Grammy Winner, rapper Sir Mix-a-lot, who has released his most recent album "Daddy's Home" in the Weed format. Also, they have added new files from Shakari, Suzanne Brewer, Richard Dunlap, You and Me, Bullcrane, Monty Harper, Suzanna Dee, Jason Peri, and The Seventh Triangle to their music catalog.

The Weed Files is proud to introduce two new artists to the Weed community:

TIBIA is a versatile Canadian artist born in Montréal (Québec). Played bass in several pop-rock original and cover bands, as well as with a jazz harpist and a children's entertainer. Now based in Toronto (Ontario). Influences: classic rock and some alternative, folk, jazz, funk, fusion & world music artists.

Here's what he had to say about "Not Crazy":

This song evolved from a "crazy" bass line I've been obsessed with for years and my perception of my dad's mental illness when I was a teen. I may never fully understand it, but I want to help people who deal directly and indirectly with such problems by donating all proceeds to the World Federation for Mental Health. Thank you for supporting a good cause!

First Night on Earth is the vision of founder Wes Grasty (vocals, acoustic guitar), formerly a member of the band Laburnum.

No One Knows Anything For Sure, First Night on Earth's first release, is born of Grasty's gestation of songs and complimentary choice of musicians including Stephen Yount (guitar), Chris London (bass), Vance Carlisle (drums) and Tina Cargill (keys, backing vocals). First Night on Earth has created songs which are an effortless combination of both shimmering electronica and minimalist indie-pop. The band has drawn praise and comparisons to everything from dream-pop, new-shoegaze, emo, and the indie-rock formats.

Winter or not, this Weed keeps on growing! Here's some more news:

New sites:

You can find 10 rootsy reggae tracks straight from Jamaica at the Stone Tiger Entertainment Group website. Their weed page also features a great collection of recent articles about Weed and digital distribution in general.

Acoustic-rock performer Alan Horvath offers weed files of all of his 39 songs at his site.

Short Buss Records have just launched their weed site. It's just a baby, but more tunes are coming in, so check back often.

New music:

Files from Chozen are now available at ChristianWeed.com. Hints of "classic rock" with an alternative, progressive rock edge is the best way to describe their music.

DownloadWeed.com has 4 more Jeff Greinke tracks.

Online Bands has new music from Fuze and The Seeker.

3 new tunes from Loren DiGiorgi have been added to Weedtunes.com's catalog.

Newly remastered tracks by Kory Livingstone and more ambient surround sound files by author David Miles Huber have been planted at the Ars Divina File Garden.

May 2004 be a great year for you!
